11 months is a long time. I needed a break - a chance to refocus. I've had a chance to consider if I want to continue blogging. For now, it's a conditional yes. Blogging has become a crowded, me-too convention where it is harder and harder to have a distinctive voice. I don't want to be the guy taking pictures of his lunch anymore. I'm not interested in writing restaurant reviews full of
all those words everyone hates. So, BBQgeek restaurant profiles are headed for a reformat - less words, more useful information, and something unexpected. Based on Google Analytics, you fine readers are far more interested in recipes and gear discussion. So, expect to see more of that (maybe). Speaking of Google Analytics, I've learned quite a bit about you guys.
- Over 2 years the percentage of recurring visitiors dropped from 12% to 8.6% even with an 11 month fallow period.
- Using a two year sample period, my top requested page is tri-tip, followed by smoked chicken salad, and finally bacon wrapped drumsticks
- The top 5 requesting regions were: US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand
So, here's what's coming up this week. First, a quick bite at Turner's BBQ in Lithia Springs. Next, a first bite at Bone Lick BBQ in Atlanta. And finally, I may cook something and tell you about it.
Welcome back BBQ Geek. Looking forward to your pithy insights into real good BBQ.
