Patak Meats - The Sausage Chalet

There are a lot of great things you can say about living in Atlanta.  We've got great weather, great sports teams, great arts and culture, and great restaurants.  However, I never expected that I'd would say we have great salami.  Hidden out in Austell, GA (a burb of ATL) is Patak Meats.  Situated in the shadow of the massive gas reservoir tanks of the Colonial Pipeline, Patak's surroundings would never suggest sausage heaven.  But I'm telling you, it's as if the pigs created this place themselves in their own honor.  A quick review of Patak's price list reveals 79 different house-made products.  I've made three trips to Patak to date and put a substantial dent in that price list.  Everything I've tried has been great.  Continue reading Patak Meats - The Sausage Chalet.

Top 50 Food Blogs

So, just a quick one for you folks here.  If you like food blogs, the Times Online published a list of their top 50 here.  As far as lists go, it's a good one.  There are a few glaring obmissions (No BBQgeek? Bloody hell!) and a few dubious inclusions.   I think a more interesting list might be the 25 worst food blogs.

Atlanta BBQ Club featured in AJC

The Atlanta BBQ Club is featured on a front-page, above the fold, color picture article in the Living section of the Friday, February 14th edition of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.  You can read the article here .   Having attended a meeting or two, I found the background on the creation of the club very interesting and informative.  It's very obvious that the BBQ club is starting to pick up steam, and Bob Herndon deserves to feel proud of his achievement.  So, if you are in Atlanta and love BBQ, please consider coming to the meeting.  I can promise you that you will get some great food and meet some great folks.   Everybody knows I love Sam and Dave's (and that it's the best Q in the state), and I will certainly be there, although I may be behind the line working.  As well, I'm hoping I can convince Rod of Rod's Rubs to attend so I can score some more Steak Out!  Hope to see you there.
