On June 22, 2008, several of Atlanta, Ga's top chefs gathered for a benefit dinner at Ashland Farms in Conyers, GA under the delicious shade of the Georgia pine trees. Twenty two diners were lucky enough to participate in the event. Special thanks go out to Clay and Lucy, proprietors of Ashland Farms, for hosting the feast. This dinner was special on many levels. One only had to consider the graciousness of the hosts (Clay and Lucy), the extraordinary efforts of the chefs (Shaun Doty, Anne Quatrano, Gary Mennie, Dave Roberts, Dan Porubiansky, Kat King, and Todd Immel), or the enormous generosity of the donor - Dominic, to understand that this was a one-of -a-kind event. The food was as spectacular as the setting. It included watermelon mojitos, fois gras on brioche with blueberry preserves, BBQ duck confit sliders, hierloom tomato salad with buffalo mozzarella, grill roasted chicken stuffed with chanterelle mushrooms, lamb stuffed with mint and lemon, smoked beef brisket from Sam and Dave's BBQ1, pork belly and watermelon, beet salad, poached shrimp, and a delicious citrus cake for desert served with vanilla cream. Additionally, this day represented a reunion of five famous Atlanta chefs- Shaun, Gary, Dave, Dan, and Todd - who all got their start in Atlanta working togehter in the Ritz-Carlton Dining Room under Guenter Seeger. The full set of photos can be viewed in this online photo album. The photo album includes a great virtual tour of the Ashland Farms microgreens greenhouse. Ashland Farms is the primary local provider of microgreens to the Atlanta restaurant community.
